We are established in the United States and offer this Site to residents of the United Kingdom. Because we offer goods and services to people in the UK, UK law applies to how we handle your data: this policy is written to meet the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. The data we collect
When you complete our stairlift enquiry form, you provide:
- Your first and last name
- Your email address
- Your telephone number
- Your address, town and postcode
- Details of your enquiry: the type of lift you need, the type of staircase you have, how many floors are involved, your preferred timescale and whether you or your family own the home
We also receive technical data automatically when you visit: your IP address, browser and device information, the page you arrived from, and any campaign identifiers in the link you followed.
3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To pass your enquiry to a stairlift installer so they can contact you with a free, no-obligation quote. Lawful basis: your consent, which you give when you submit the form (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).
- To contact you about your enquiry by phone or email. Lawful basis: your consent.
- To operate, secure and improve the Site and to measure which campaigns bring genuine enquiries. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running and improving our service (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To meet our legal obligations, for example keeping a record of the consent you gave. Lawful basis: legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)).
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.
4. Who we share it with
We share the details of your enquiry with the stairlift installation partner who covers your area, so that they can prepare a quote and arrange a survey. We share it with one partner for each enquiry, not with a list of buyers.
We also use service providers who process data on our behalf under contract: our hosting provider (Vercel), our database provider (Supabase) and Meta Platforms for advertising measurement. They may only act on our instructions.
5. Where your data is stored
Your enquiry is stored on servers within the European Union and is accessible to us in the United States, where we are established. Transferring your data out of the UK is therefore part of how this service works. Those transfers are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or by Standard Contractual Clauses together with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, so that your data keeps the protection UK law gives it.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your enquiry for 24 months from the date you submit it, so that we can answer questions about it and show that you consented. Records we are required to keep for longer, for example for accounting purposes, are kept for the statutory period and then deleted. After that we delete or anonymise your data.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Be told what personal data we hold about you, and to receive a copy of it
- Have inaccurate data corrected
- Have your data erased
- Restrict how we use your data
- Receive your data in a portable format, or have it sent to another provider
- Object to processing we carry out on the basis of our legitimate interests
- Withdraw your consent at any time — this does not affect processing that has already taken place
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@stairliftcheck.com. We will respond within one month. Exercising your rights is free of charge.
8. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
9. Cookies and advertising
We use the Meta pixel to measure how our advertising performs. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Meta Platforms Ireland Limited information about your visit, including a pseudonymised identifier. You can control cookies in your browser settings, and you can object to this use under section 7 above.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Any change appears on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you directly.
